What is Adhesion?

Adhesion is a sticky connective tissue that forms between muscles and fascia — it limits movement and causes pain. Fortunately, it’s reversible and can be treated with specialized manual therapy.

The Most Common Cause of Chronic Pain in the Body

… is adhesion.

Fortunately for you, Stephanie Thaler is the only licensed provider in Minneapolis treating adhesion.  There are only 60 providers worldwide who are trained in Adhesion Release Methods!  Unlike most chronic pain providers who take one class, Adhesion Release Methods requires practitioners to continue their training month after month, year after year. The practitioners of Adhesion Release Methods, also known as ARM, restore function and eliminate pain by providing better assessments and precise treatments to rid the body of adhesion.

Adhesion (aka glue, scar tissue, or fascial adhesion) is not only the most common pathology, but also the most undiagnosed and most reversible condition in the human body.  The unfortunate thing is that not many healthcare practitioners are talking about adhesion and most of the patients seen at Adhesion Release Minneapolis have seen multiple providers with no results.

If you’ve seen 3 or more providers and still experience chronic pain lasting more than 6 months, we imagine that no one ever told you about adhesion.  Maybe it’s time that you figured out if adhesion could be the root cause of your pain!  Fixing your adhesion matters because it improves flexibility, improves function, reduces pain, and restores normal movement to the body so you can enjoy the things you love!

The Most Common Cause of Chronic Pain in the Body

We do 3 things differently than every other pain clinic out there.

1. We diagnose you.

We use a series of specialized test, checking for restrictions in range of motion and quantify the discomfort they create. We look to recreate your pain pattern with palpation, which signals to us which nerves and or tissues have adhesion.

Suggestion For Client

We ask clients to wear a sports bra and loose-fitting shorts that can easily be pulled up over the glute area for treatment.

2. We specialize in finding and fixing adhesion

We use Active Release Techniques® model of finding the glue between your muscles and removing it.  In fact, we’re the only full-body Adhesion Release Methods Licensed clinic in Minneapolis!

The provider will identify the areas that require treatment, then the client will go through a series of range of motion movements as the provider removes the adhesion. Shockwave therapy is also utilized to further breakdown adhesion and bring fresh blood flow to the area for continued healing.

We use the Test-Treat-Retest Methodology of treatment.

We get results in real-time.  Immediately.  Often after the very first treatment. There is no fluff.  We find the cause of your pain and make it go away.

We absolutely love to inspire hope where other healthcare practitioners have failed. This is the reason why we attract chronic pain patients, those who have been to multiple healthcare professionals, who left them feeling gas lit and disappointed when Western medicine testing was inconclusive, and without finding the path to successful long-term healing

How Adhesion Forms!

Injury / Trauma

When tissue is damaged, fibers may heal in a disorganized way, forming adhesions.

Overuse / Repetition

Repeated movements can cause tissues to tighten and stick together.

Lack of Movement

Immobility (such as bedrest or limited activity) increases adhesion risk.

Understanding Adhesion

Adhesions occur when connective tissues (fascia) and muscles stick together. This restricts normal movement, reduces flexibility, and can cause chronic pain. They often develop after injury, surgery, or repetitive strain.

Pain and stiffness

Adhesions can lead to persistent local pain and tightness.

Limited range of motion

Restricted movement affects performance and daily function.
